Thank you very much. This is great. Lightspeed Champions should use it as a video. I enjoyed this very very much

BRAVO...that is awesome. Captures how slow the T is some days, how rainy this summer has been, and never-ending road construction perfectly (sarcasm aside, loved this...great great work.)

Wow, that dude has an amazingly boring life!
  • patterned · 1 year ago
    i second that.
he tries to make it exciting by taking pictures of it, running it at high speed, and throwing some "feel-good" music behind it.

    boring.

I'm not sure about that. It's three days out of many. It consists of commuting across city, going to uni/work, having a laugh with his friends at his place/his friends' places, sounds like an average life to me. Not only that, it sounds like a pretty happy life.

You never get to hear what the people say, only put a soundtrack to it. How're you to tell whether it's boring or not when words make up most of our life? I can see this must've been inspired by the now all but non-existent Super-8 cameras (the motion cameras that use transparency film instead of magnetic tape, so they don't have sound and they generally use a lower shutter speed that sometimes is played and normal speed [thus making it faster than normal]).

I did pretty much the same thing (http://vimeo.com/1126456) but I figured out through trial and error that just because you document the entire day doesn't make it particularly interesting. The story of just being in Boston (and I live in Boston) doesn't make it very compelling. It just ends up being a lot of trains and stuff.

I do love the concept and it's a fun idea to play with but I wish this video had more.

I agree with Bob, sort of. With the rate at which the photos were taken it ceases to look like anything other than just choppy video. Add to that there was no real narrative being told, at least nothing that I could see aside from, this is the subway, this is the street, this is the office, this is the street again, etc. and it's just a big "meh, whatever" for me. If you are going to do something like this (string together a series of photos) do something stylistically that will utilize that approach. Also, try to figure out a way to tell some kind of story with it.

Unlike Bob, I would not say it is a waste of time. I can see that it is experimentation and I fully encourage that. It's a first step toward something, and good on ya for taking that first step. Now use what you've learned and take step number two.

    Cheers.

Why not just use a high-definition video camera?

You would get the same picture quality without the lenghty animation process.

Very unique! I watched it 3 times. Very cool idea. I think I will experiment with this concept in the near future.

Ha! This guy has to take the infamously bad Fitchberg commuter line. The only one worse is Worcester.

And I second the idea that he should have just used a video cam.

Oh well. He's got a hard enough life having to ride that train, so I'll stop...

  • PJ · 1 year ago
Uh, you realize that ALL video is just a series of still photos, right?
  • Alec · 1 year ago
yeesh... this might as well be a viral Apple commercial - hipsters, indie music, tons of Macs.

    cool idea though...

take a movie...or learn to take pictures well. A bunch of crappy photos put together to make a choppy movie set to a good song isn't artistic its a waste of time.
