Simply implanting the suggestion that the listener misheard the supposed racial remark is all that's necessary. Acting on a knee-jerk reaction to a remark is never cool, and can exponentially backfire and plausibly be redoubled back on you as projecting your own racism by being so quick to assume others are making racist statements.
