I also think that this video thing that DSLRs are trying to do is pure foolishness. If you are mainly concerned with HD video, you'll get something designed solely for it. Kind of a gimmick here really.

Re: Canon 5D Mark II 21.1 Megapixel DSLR Camera With 1080 HD Video

Actually $2700 is significantly less than what the original 5D was when it came out. I'm not sure what the price of the D90 has to do with this. They are two completely different cameras. I was only making the comparison to the video feature, not as still cameras. If you want to talk about price differences, then try comparing the 5D Mark II to the Nikon D3.

Re: Canon 5D Mark II 21.1 Megapixel DSLR Camera With 1080 HD Video

1080 may trump 720, but me thinks $999 trumps $2,700 a lot more!

Re: Canon 5D Mark II 21.1 Megapixel DSLR Camera With 1080 HD Video

Indeed it would, they are very different cameras. I was only making the comparison to the new video feature which until last week was only available on the D90.

Re: Canon 5D Mark II 21.1 Megapixel DSLR Camera With 1080 HD Video

this is nearly 3 times the cost of the nikon d90. for that much, it had jolly well better "trump" it.

Re: Canon 5D Mark II 21.1 Megapixel DSLR Camera With 1080 HD Video

Isn't anyone getting cold feet about having to manage the 21 meg files?
Ive rented the 1DS MK2 or whatever they call it and I have a tough time getting clients to pay for the difference between work I do with the 5D. If I had 2G to budget for more gear I'd be going for one of the prime L series lenses. The 50 or the 85.

Re: Canon 5D Mark II 21.1 Megapixel DSLR Camera With 1080 HD Video

According to Canon it's $2700.
